Alpinestars Apex Leather Pants Review

There is a three tiered equilibrium between comfort, functionality, and
style that must be perfectly balanced to achieve riding perfection.

Street riding pants provide you with unbeatable comfortable and a large
range of motion, while racing leathers protection you with maximum abrasion
resistance and armor. If we could only have the best of both worlds -
that's where the Apex pants come into play.

style

The Apex pants keep true to the Alpinestars theme of basic colors (yes,
you guessed it - black) and a clean look. The Alpinestars text is found
along the pant legs as well as their recognizable logo above the knees.

features

The Apex pants have a 270 degree zipper that connects to all of Alpinestars jackets
- allowing you to have two piece suit functionality. (If you are using the
jacket and pant combo to take to the racetrack, make sure to check with
your track organizer if they allow 270 degree zips as some only accept 360
degree zips or 1 piece suits only).

One thing to keep in mind is that these pants have an absence of pockets
- which is good as it encourages you to keep your hands out of your pant
pockets and on the grips!

Two hefty knee pucks that velcro to the pants are included and look
great. Their style can be accentuated with asphalt scrapes (optional).

The Apex pants are made of a heavy duty 1.2-1.4mm full grain, drum dyed,
leather which provides excellent abrasion resistance. Removable CE
certified GP Knee and Shin Protectors provide you with maximum impact
protection for your legs. You do get a sense of security from the armor
that has an injection molded shell and dual density foam padding. The
padding around the knee area sometimes can fold over. I realized this only
after my one knee was red after riding and my other was fine. One of the
pads had folded over and was pressing right into my knee which was quite
painful. Once I figured out the problem and 'helped' the padding when
putting the pants on I was fine and much more comfortable. Also PE hip
padding is found within the pants protect you against impacts in that
area.

The quality level is quite high with the Apex pants. Everything from the
feel and thickness of the leather, to the stitching, to the solid
armor.

Buy these pants if you want a high quality leather pant that protects as
well as it is comfortable. I would recommend these pants for casual street
riding, short tours, and certainly for racing. If you like to carve up a
