First Gear Carbon Heated Gloves Review
Riding is such an enjoyable activity - for some of us it is hard for us to put our bikes away for the winter even when the mercury drops.
If you have ever ridden in cold weather you will notice that your extremities (hands and feet) are the first things to be affected by the cold. Keeping your hand's warm is essential to ensuring your comfort and ability to operate your bike's controls. Depending on just how cold it is, a normal winter riding glove is sometimes not enough to keep your fingers warm. Heated gloves which attach to your battery can give you that competitive edge against mother nature so you can keep riding.
Firstgear's Carbon Heated Gloves provide the wearer with heat that is distributed throughout the entire glove.
Firstgearās Warm & Safe heated gloves for men and women feature heating throughout the entire glove, while maintaining the thinness of a summer glove. The gloves plug directly into the jacket liner, or an optional separate wire harness, allowing riders to adjust the temperature of the gloves independently of the jacket with a Dual Heat-Troller.
style
Firstgear's carbon heated gloves are made of grade-A, top-grain, drum-dyed cowhide leather which looks slick. The glove unfortunately comes in any color you like as long as it is black.
features
As the name states - the carbon heated gloves are ... HEATED! The heating feature of these gloves is unique in that the gloves emanate heat throughout the entire glove. The 15 watts of heat these gloves produce definitely keep your hands nice and warm.
The gloves have re-curved fingers and have finger-mounted, rubber for additional protection. A face shield wiper is also found on the back of the thumb to wipe away rain / debris that ends up on your face shield.
safety
Firstgear recommends using their heat-troller with the gloves to provide greater safety to protect against faulty connections and allow the rider the convenience of being able to adjust the heat sent to the gloves.
The gloves are adjustable via an elastic wrist drawstring and a hook-and-loop gauntlet closure to ensure they stay put while you are riding.
quality
The gloves are made of high quality cowhide leather and provide the wearer with a breathable membrane that is also waterproof.
Inside the glove is a Thinsulate layer that wicks away moisture and provides additional warmth to the hands.
show me the money
Firstgear's carbon heated gloves retail for USD $169.95.
overall value
If you ride in temperatures of 5c or lower than these gloves are worth every penny to you.
The lack of color selection is disappointing. However, the breathable, waterproof, and Thinsulate layer of the glove make up for that fact.
The glove is easily adjustable and the gauntlet style provides the wearer additional protection.
