Icon Justice Touchscreen Gloves Review

The Icon Justice Touchscreen Gloves provide an old solution to a modern problem. Many new touchscreen devices, such as GPS's iPad's, SmartPhones, and other electronics use a capacitive touchscreen. What that means is that the device registers input via an electrical charge. Your skin contains an electrical charge (unless you are a zombie) and therefore when you touch the screen with your bare finger the machine recognizes your touch.

When you try to touch the screen while wearing a glove - the electrical charge pulsating throughout your body wont be able to penetrate through your glove and therefore no input will be registered - that is unless the gloves you are wearing are Icon's Justice Touchscreen gloves. The gloves are woven with Icon's Touchtech leather technology to allow you to use your phone, gps or the ATM normally without the hassle and inconvenience of having to take your gloves off.

style

The Icon Justice Touchscreen Gloves keep with the theme of Icon's product line - they are slick and stylish. The injected thermoplastic knuckles look very futuristic and clean - unlike some knuckle protection on other gloves that appear bulky and oddly shaped. The gloves have the flashy Icon logo located at the base of the cuff. One thing lacking in terms of style with this glove is the variety (or absence of) colors - the gloves currently only come in black.

There are other non-motorcycle gloves that also provide touchscreen compatibility but the material that allows the input of your finger to be recognized by the device is only on specific parts of the glove (for example, the tip of the fingers). In addition to using Touchtech leather technology on the bottom of the fingers and palm area of the glove, the top portion of the gloves incorporate pittards Microvent Goatskin on the top of the fingers, back of hand and thumb which provides you with ventilation to keep your hands from getting sweaty and allow air to flow through the gloves and also providing greater abrasion resistance as this material's durability is of a high quality.

Finger gussets are used to allow create range of motion and eliminate tightness between fingers. In addition, there is a generous amount of expansion panels located throughout the glove found on the back of the hand, each finger and thumb, as well as along the side of the glove between the thumb and fingers area to further increase your range of motion and ensure a suitable, comfortable, fit.

The gloves have a pre-curved palm and finger design that provides a relaxed hand position while riding.

The gloves are available in regular leather, mesh, and in ladies sizing.

The split knuckle and finger armor is vented to give you increased airflow to keep your hands from getting sweaty and maintain comfort.

The pittards goatskin provides additional abrasion resistance as the composition is of a stronger material giving you greater piece of mind that your hands will be protected.

On the knuckle area and base of each finger is injected thermoplastic armor to provide you with impact protection.

The Touchtech leather technology is very fluid and passed our tests on several phones and bank machines that utilize touchscreens. When wearing the gloves you can use any part of your fingers to operate your touchscreen device.

If you use a touchscreen GPS, or frequently use a phone in between rides (avoid texting and riding), these gloves are invaluable and extremely useful. Make no mistake, these are full-on motorcycle gloves that provide excellent protection and extreme comfort.

Recently, Icon has moved more towards a European sizing scheme. North American consumers may find that they have to move up a size from what they are normally used to. For example, if you are normally a size Large move up to an XL when trying on the Justice Touchscreen gloves.
