Joe Rocket Phoenix 2.0 Mesh motorcycle pants
When riding in the heat of summer is tempting to simply throw on a pair of jeans instead of a heavy armored pair of textile / leather pants. In order to give rider's a pant that offers protection as well as comfort in heat stricken weather Joe Rocket has re-designed their Phoenix Mesh textile pants to accommodate this need.
style
The Phoenix 2.0 textile pants come in any color you would like - as long as it's black. A reflective stripe for visibility is woven into the pant as well. The pants offer a neutral style without fancy patterns or designs.
features
The main purpose of the phoenix pants are to offer the rider a protective pant that is cool in heated weather. The poly-mesh shell allows air to flow through the pant material and allows it to 'breath'. There is extra padding added to the 'seat' area of the pants for a more comfortable ride.
One of the interesting things about the phoenix pants is that they have a zipper on the back that attaches to it's jacket model equivalents - the Joe Rocket phoenix jacket. This allows the rider to have the connective protection of a riding suit with the option of wearing the pants and jacket separately.
There are full length side zipper pockets on each side of the pants offering the rider easy storage and access to pocket items.
safety
The pants are abrasion resilient and have height adjustable C.E. (Communauté Européene) rated knee protectors are inserted in the knee area of the pants.
quality
The knee pad area is rather large and is somewhat questionable if it will keep it's place in case of a fall. The waist band has a leather lining that aids in ensuring the pants don't fall off and you are left with your drawers exposed.
show me the money
The suggested price for these pants is between USD $139.99 to $159.99 - which is neither a bargain nor a rip-off.
overall value
If you are looking for pants designed to keep you cool in the warm summer months the phoenix 2.0 mesh pants may be right for you. They definitely offer the rider the cooling comfort that they advertise. They are more protective than wearing jeans but whether or not they would offer greater protection than leather pants with armor pads - remains to be seen.
